New Proposition 65 regulations for the rental housing industry take effect July 1, 2019.
Proposition 65 requires every business with ten or more employees to provide warnings prior to exposing any person to a chemical known to the State of California to cause cancer and/or birth defects or other reproductive harm. The new regulations allow landlords to comply with the law by providing most warnings in the lease or through an annual written notice rather than posting warnings throughout the property. This webinar will provide a detailed review of Proposition 65 and the two new warning regulations.
This webinar will cover the key information landlords with ten or more employees need to know:
- What is Proposition 65?
- Does it apply to all landlords?
- Who counts as an “employee”?
- What listed chemicals and sources of exposure may be present at rental properties?
- Can the written warnings be emailed?
- Do the warnings have to be provided in other languages?
- Warning signs for designated smoking areas
- Warning signs for enclosed parking facilities
- CAA’s New Proposition 65 Addendum
- CAA’s New Proposition 65 Warning Annual Notification
