How to Comply with City of Sacramento Rent Control Ordinance – September 11, 2019
September 11, 2019 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Registration is Closed! No On-Site Registration!
The City of Sacramento adopted a new rent control ordinance effective September 12, 2019. The new ordinance limits rent increases, places “just cause” restrictions on tenancy terminations, requires payment of a new annual per unit fee, and establishes a rent registry with data that must be provided by property owners. This seminar will explain how to comply with the new ordinance that only affects multifamily properties (2 or more units) within the Sacramento city limits and built before February 1995.
This seminar will explain:
- What is the cap on rent increases?
- How is the annual cost of living adjustment set?
- What is considered “rent” under the ordinance?
- What is the “base rent” for calculating adjustments?
- How often can rent be increased?
- What are the new tenant eviction protections?
- What changes to forms may be required?
- What record keeping is required?
- Can rent increases ever exceed the limit?
- What is the new annual fee on rental units?
