Sexual Harassment Prevention:1-Hour Employee Training Webinar- June 26, 2019

Effective January 1, 2019, employers in California with 5 or more employees (or independent contractors) must provide sexual harassment training to all employees (SB 1343). The deadline for compliance with initial training is January 1, 2020. Employers must then provide the training every 2 years. Previously, sexual harassment training was required only for supervisors whose employers have 50 or more employees.
Under the new law, covered employers must:
• Provide supervisory employees with 2 hours of training every 2 years
• Provide non-supervisory employees with 1 hour of training every 2 years
This mandatory course will provide information for employees regarding federal and state sexual laws prohibiting sexual harassment; practical guidance relating these laws to every day work place behavior including how to prevent and correct sexual harassment and explain the remedies available to victims of sexual harassment in employment.
Topics include:
• The definition of sexual harassment
• Why sexual harassment is illegal
• Identifying sexual harassment
• Examples of illegal harassment, including harassment based on gender identity, gender expression and sexual orientation
• Prevention of sexual harassment
• Prevention of abusive verbal and physical conduct
• Victim’s remedies
